Service Description
The National Lifeguard (NL) course is the professional standard for lifeguard training in Canada. Designed to develop the skills, judgment, and physical ability required to prevent and respond to aquatic emergencies, this intensive course prepares candidates to work as certified lifeguards at pools, waterparks, or waterfronts, depending on the option selected. Through a combination of classroom learning, hands-on water training, and scenario-based exercises, participants will learn advanced water rescue techniques, emergency response procedures, teamwork, communication, and leadership in high-pressure situations. The course emphasizes proactive supervision, risk assessment, and accident prevention to ensure safe aquatic environments for the public. Course Components: - Surveillance and scanning techniques - Prevention strategies and facility safety - Water rescue techniques and victim management - Spinal injury management in aquatic settings - Emergency response and first aid protocols - Teamwork and communication during lifeguard operations - Lifeguard fitness and endurance Course Details: Duration: 40 hours Certification: National Lifeguard – Pool (valid for 2 years) Recognized By: Employers and regulatory bodies across Canada Includes: Practical and written evaluation, training materials, and certification Prerequisites: - Minimum 15 years of age on the final day of the course. - Bronze Cross certification (current or expired within 24 months). - Standard First Aid with CPR-C certification from a recognized provider.
