General Information​
Q1: Who can take this course?
Anyone who meets the minimum age requirement (typically 15 years for lifeguard training, no age limit for first aid) and can meet the swimming and physical skill prerequisites.
Q2: Do I need to know how to swim before enrolling?
Yes, for lifeguard training you must pass a swim test (usually a continuous 400 meter swim, treading water, and retrieving a brick from the pool’s deep end). First aid only courses do not require swimming ability.
Q3: How long does the training take?
Lifeguard training usually takes 40 hours over several days. CPR/AED training alone can be completed in 2–16 hours.
Q4: What certifications will I receive?
Most programs issue:

Logistics & Requirements
Q7: What should I bring to class?
Swimsuit, towel, dry change of clothes, notebook, water bottle, and snacks. For pool sessions, bring goggles if preferred.
Q8: Is there a written test?
Yes. You’ll need to pass both a written exam for most first aid courses (70% or higher) and practical skills tests.
Q9: What if I fail part of the course?
Many programs allow a retest for the written or skills portion within a certain timeframe.
Q10: Can I take the course online?
No. Currently all courses are in person and 100% attendance is required .

After Certification
Q11: Where can I work with a Lifeguard certification?
Pools, water parks, beaches, resorts, cruise ships, and other aquatic facilities.
Q12: How do I renew my certification?
Before your certification expires, take a review/recertification course. If it lapses, you may have to retake the full course.
Q13: Is this certification nationally recognized?
Yes. All our courses are recognized throughout Canada. Therefore your certificate is valid no matter where you wish to work.
